Independence for Artisans and Farmers
Where

When
July 01, 2009
As we celebrate the independence of Canada and
the US, North American consumers can support
artisans and farmers throughout the developing
world in their search for freedom through Fair
Trade.
As they work to sustain their families, we can utilize our family gatherings to help them determine their own futures. By choosing Fair Trade, we can eliminate exploitative middlemen, treat people more equitably, offer respectful partnerships, and live the values of our countries’ foundings.
Fair Trade Federation Members maintain long-term relationships based on solidarity, trust, and mutual respect. Producers can improve their skills and access to markets. Artisans and farmers participate in the decisions that affect them. Modern-day slaves and victims of trafficking are set free to find new opportunities and dignity. Producers' heritage and way of life can be preserved, as they work in their home environment, adapting cultural techniques to modern market needs.
