Join the Federation

Renewable annually, membership in FTF is offered to any US- or Canadian- based wholesaler or retailer which: 

  • Strives to only source goods according to the Fair Trade Principles and Code of Practice, as outlined by FTF,
  • Has been in operation for at least 365 days in either Canada or the United States*       and
  • Passes the Federation's screening process based on its principles of Fair Trade.

*A Retailer may apply early (after 180 days of active trading) if:

  • They only buy from importers (not buying directly from producer organizations) and
  • They have reached at least $20,000 in sales
Otherwise, they must wait the 365 days.

Member benefits include

  • Exposure to vendors and consumers interested in fair trade
  • Participation joint-marketing campaigns and FTF-member only sales channels
  • Training events, conferences, and fora
  • Special deals and discounts on shipping, supplies, phone, and other services
  • Access to financing specifically for Fair Trade Organizations
  • Networking and information sharing with the broader fair trade movement
