Bazaar de la Paz, NYC’s first fair-trade retailer, will celebrate its first anniversary on Saturday, August 16. Specializing in the sale of handcrafted furniture, gifts and home decor all made from salvaged, recycled and/or natural materials from more than 100 countries, the shop is hosting its first anniversary party with all proceeds benefiting the Fund for Public Schools. The affair will include a private screening of the shop’s new artisan documentary series, “Connections,” about how the store’s Tropical Salvage furniture line is handcrafted in Bali. Stop by for drinks, appetizers, music and the chance to win a hand-chiseled bed crafted from salvaged Indonesian hardwood.
